Autos Hi, we are thinking of joining a club for the start of next year (07) for our son who will be 7, he will have only been riding for 6 months, do you think it will be to early for him, do the competitors get a trophy if they complete so many meetings like other clubs do? what is the format?

Auto riders can start when they are six, so as long as he/she is confident and capable they should have no trouble settling in.
PJMC auto riders all receive a rider's award trophy at the end of each meeting. Top six finishers get the same trophies as riders in the other classes. It makes them all feel a bit special and gives them encouragement. Depending on the points tally at the end of each championship season, riders get a trophy relative their finishing position. Consistency will often pay off and regular high placings can often produce better results than a few wins and several DNFs.
If you plan on starting next season (2007) get in as much saddle time as possible. Going to practice tracks and learning to ride in company with others is a real benefit. Kids learn fast in competitive situations and it does no harm giving them someone to chase. I they are relatively competitive when they start they will enjoy it all the more.

Hi there,
The riding awards are given out at normal meetings to the Auto riders, but the meeting on the 21st Oct was round 1 of 3 of the winter series, if you rider enters all three rounds then i beleive that he will get an award.

Thanks for that.
I think Oct 21st was round 2, so we'll probably miss out on the trophy. Anyway, proper placments is what we're after for next season.
Cheers again.
